JLC has implemented some league rules to help pace of play

  • Honor gimme putts
    • Members of your group can give a "gimme" putt to a player if the ball is within one foot or so of the hole. The gimme putt counts as if the player made the putt, and the stroke must be counted as one stroke for the hole.

  • 10 strokes MAX per hole
    • If you have not holed out and reach 10 strokes, please pick up your ball and move onto the next hole. Record a 10 on the scorecard regardless.

  • Hole #6 Drop Zone
    • The drop zone area is over the water hazard, to the right of the cart path, behind the small bushes, but not on the #12 tee box hill. The drop area is somewhat flat and approximately 100 yards from the green.

You may play from the drop zone if the following situation applies:

    • Use the drop zone if your SECOND or proceeding shot(s) goes into the water. Take the water penalty stroke and proceed to the drop zone to hit the next shot. If you choose to use the drop zone, announce to the group what your intentions are before picking up your ball.

IMPORTANT:

*If your tee shot goes into the water, you cannot use the drop zone. You must take the penalty stroke and hit the next shot, at this point you would be hitting three. If the 3rd shot goes into the water, you may move onto the drop zone.

**You may not purposefully hit your second shot into the water just to use the drop zone and save a stroke, this is not the intention of the drop zone.

***Penalty strokes apply if your ball goes in the water, no matter what shot it is.

  • Lost Ball or Ball Out of Bounds
    • Drop out into the fairway from where you think your ball was lost or where it went out of bounds. You cannot drop closer to the hole. You must count all penalty strokes in your score for the hole. You do not have to go back and re-tee in these situations.

  • One or two practice swing is usually enough
  • Play ready golf, unless someone in your group had a birdie.
  • Driving a cart, drop your partner at her ball and go to yours while staying out of the way of anyone hitting behind you.
  • Don't stand on the green and chat, once you're done quickly get your stuff and walk to the next hole so people behind you are not waiting.
  • Write your score down at the next tee so golfers behind you can hit into the green.
  • If someone needs help looking for their ball, it's OK to help them look, but find your ball first, and know when it's your turn to hit so you're not holding up the group. I believe we only get 3 mins to look for a lost ball according to the rules.
